Answer:

i.) the boy who sold 70 magazines will receive a profit of Rs.112.

ii.) the boy who sold 80 magazines will receive a profit of Rs.128.

iii.) the boy who sold 100 magazines will receive a profit of Rs.160.

Step-by-step explanation:

The total profit was Rs. 400.

The boys sell 70, 80 and 100 and magazines respectively and the profits are shared in direct proportion to the magazines sold.

Therefore the total number of magazines sold by the boys is = 70 + 80 + 100 = 250.

Therefore the profits of the boys will be in order ,

i) for the boy who sold 70 magazines the profit will be \frac{70}{250} \times 400 = Rs. 112

ii) for the boy who sold 80 magazines the profit will be \frac{80}{250} \times 400 = Rs. 128

iii) for the boy who sold 100 magazines the profit will be \frac{100}{250} \times 400 = Rs. 160.

To find :

  • How much profit does each receive?

ㅤㅤ

Calculations :

• Sum of magazines = 70 + 80 + 100

Sum of magazines = 250

ㅤㅤ

  • For first boy:

= 400 × 70/250

= 28000/250

= ₹112

ㅤㅤ

  • For second boy:

= 400 × 80/250

= 32000/250

= ₹128

ㅤㅤ

  • For third boy:

= 400 × 100/250

= 40000/250

= ₹160
