Three cars A,B and C are running at different speeds.
Car A covers 100 m in 4 seconds.
Car B covers 200 m in 5 seconds.
Car C covers 300 m in 6 seconds.

a) What is the speed of the fastest car?
b) How much time will B take to complete 600 m?
c) How far would C run in 1 minute?

Answer -

a) To Find that which is car is the fastest, we need to find the speed of every car and then compare the values -

We know that,

Speed = Distance / Time

  • Speed of car A = 100 / 4 = 25 m/s

  • Speed of car B = 200 / 5 = 40 m/s

  • Speed of car C = 300 / 6 = 50 m/s

So,

Speed of car C > Speed of car B > Speed of car A

Hence, Speed of the fastest car i.e. car C is 50 m/s

b) Here, we are given distance and we have already calculated speed, So we can find the time by -

Time = Distance / Speed

  • Distance = 600 m
  • Speed of car B = 40 m/s

Time = 600 / 40

T = 15

Time taken by B to complete 60 m is 15 seconds.

c) Here, we are given time and also we have calculated speed. So, we can find distance by -

Distance = Speed × Time

  • Time = 1 min = 60 sec
  • Speed of car C = 50 m/s

Distance = 60 × 50

= 300 m

Distance covered by car C in 1 minute is 300 m.
