The Surface area of the resulting cuboid is 224 cm²

Given:

Three cubes each of the volume =  64 cm³

To find:

Surface area of the resulting cuboid

Formula used:

Volume of cube , V = side³

Side = ³√V

The surface area of resulting cuboid = 2 ( lb + bh + hl )

Where l, b, h be the dimensions of the cuboid i.e. length, breadth, and height.

Solution:

Step 1: Find the side of the cube:

Side = ³√V

Side = \³\sqrt{64} \\\\\[V = 64 cm\³]\\\\\ Side = 64\ ^\frac{1}{3} \\\\ Side = 4\³ \ ^ \times ^ \frac{1}{3}\\\\\\

Side = ³√64

Side = 4 cm

Step2: Find the new length breadth and height of the resulting cuboid:

Three cubes are joined end to end:

New Length = 4 + 4 + 4 = 12 cm

New Breadth = 4 cm

New Height = 4 cm

Step 3: Find the Surface area of the resulting cuboid

Surface area of resulting cuboid = 2 ( lb + bh + hl )

= 2 (12 \times 4 + 4 \times 4 + 4 \times 12)\\\\= 2 ( 48 + 16 + 48 )\\\\= ( 2 \times 112 ) \ cm\²

= 224 cm²

Hence, the Surface area of the resulting cuboid is 224 cm².
