GIVEN:

  • Three cubes of side 8cm are joined end to end.

TO FIND:

  • What is the TSA of the cuboid ?
  • What is the Volume of the cuboid ?

SOLUTION:

The dimensions of the resulting cuboid are:-

  • LENGTH = 8+8+8 = 24 cm
  • BREADTH = 8 cm
  • HEIGHT = 8 cm

We know that the formula for finding the surface area of the cuboid is:-

\large{\boxed{\bf{\star \: AREA = 2(lb + bh + hl) \: \star}}}

According to question:-

\sf{\longmapsto AREA = 2(24 \times 8 + 8 \times 8 + 8 \times 24) }

\sf{\longmapsto AREA = 2(192 + 64 + 192) }

\sf{\longmapsto AREA = 2(448) }

\bf{\longmapsto AREA = 896 \: cm^2 }

  • TSA of cuboid = 896 cm²

We know that the formula for finding the volume of cuboid is:-

\large{\boxed{\bf{\star \: VOLUME = L \times B \times H \: \star}}}

According to question:-

\sf{\longmapsto VOLUME = 24 \times 8 \times 8 }

\bf{\longmapsto VOLUME = 1536 \: cm^3 }

  • VOLUME of cuboid = 1536 cm³
