There are three outcomes of politics in social divisions-

1. How citizens view their identity-

* Citizens should not view themselves in exclusive and partisan terms.

*They are supposed to look at their identity as a part of a religious or linguistic group as well as a part of the country.

* Eg: India and Belgium.

2.How political parties raise the demands of the people-

*If political parties and leaders raise the demands of the people as a whole and not as various communities, citizens are assured their rights.

* As in the case of Sri Lanka, the leaders raised the demands of the majority and ignored the views of the minorities.

* As a result, the Sri Lankan Tamils felt alienated and neglected.

3. How the government views the demands of the people-

* This outcome majorly depends on the government.

* The government is supposed to view the demands of the people and the political leaders in a way that ensures the welfare of the country.

* Eg: In Belgium, the government accommodated  the various linguistic groups through a long process of amendment of the Constitution.
