Solution by Constitution framers to this challenge was to chose India as the model of a secular state.
This choice was reflected in several constitutional provisions which make India a secular state:-
1)There is no official religion for the
Indian state.
2)The Constitution provides all
individuals and communities the
freedom to profess, practice and
propagate any religion, or not to
follow any.
3) The Constitution prohibits
discrimination on grounds of
religion.
4) The Constitution allows the state to
intervene between religious
matters in order to ensure equality
within religious communities.
5)Eg:- The Constitution has banned
the practice of untouchability.
