Answer:

Amount of profit David received = Rs. 20.000

Step-by-step explanation:

In normal cases, the amount of profit is distributed among the businessmen in the ratio of the amount of investment by each.

So to find the amount of profit that David received, we have to find the ratio of investment.

Let the amount Johnny invested = x

Amount David invested = Amount Johnny invested+10,000 = x + 10,000

Amount Paul invested = Amount David invested + 15,000=x+10,000+15,000=x+25,000

Total investment = Rs. 1,25,000

ie, x + x + 10,000 + x + 25,000 = 1,25,000

3x + 35,000 = 1,25,000

3x = 1,25,000 - 35,000 = 90,000

x = 90,000 ÷ 3 = 30,000

So, Amount Johnny invested = x = Rs. 30,000

Amount David invested = 30,000 + 10,000 = Rs. 40,000

Amount Paul invested = 30,000 + 25,000 = Rs. 55,000

Ratio of investments = Johnny: David:Paul

=30,000: 40,000: 55,000

= 6:8:11

As we said at the first,

Ratio of profits = Ratio of investments = 6:8:11

Total profit = Rs. 62,500

From this, David gets a part of 8/25 (6+8+11=25)

So, Amount of profit David gets is equal to,

= 62500 × \frac{8}{25}  =  \frac{500000}{25}  = 20000

Amount of profit David gets = Rs. 20,000
