Three materials A, B and C are taken separately in a can, bottle and a jar. The volume of C depends on the size of the container but the shape of both B and C depends on the container. The volume of A and B is independent of the kind of container. Predict which of these is a solid, liquid and gas and why?

The correct answer is that A is solid , B is liquid and C is gas .

Explanation :

  • Since shape  of both B and  C depends on the shape of the container , so both B and C must be fluids.
  • Now since volume of C also depends on the size of container , so it is free to expand in the container , hence C is a gas .

  • Now the volume of B is independent of the container but its shape depends on container , so it must be liquid .

  • The volume as well the shape of the A does not depend on container , so it has a fixed shape .Hence it must be a solid

So, A is solid , B is liquid and C is gas .

Answer:

here is your answer mate...

Explanation:

Two factors determine whether a substance is a solid, a liquid, or a gas:

1.The kinetic energies of the particles (atoms, molecules, or ions) that make up a substance. Kinetic energy tends to keep the particles moving apart.

2.The attractive intermolecular forces between particles that tend to draw the particles together.

so, c is gas

b is liquid

and a is solid
