three numbers are in the ratio 5:7:12
Let three number is 5x ,7x & 12x

=>5x+12x=7x+50
=>17x-7x=50
=>10x=50
=>x=5
Then no is
=>5x=5×5=25
=>7x=7×5=35
=>12x=12×5=60
Sum of no=25+35+60=120

Given:

Three numbers are in the ratio 5:7:12. The sum of the first and the third numbers is greater than the second by 50.

To Find:

The sum of the three numbers is?

Solution:

1. The ratio of the three numbers is 5:7:12.

2. Let the three numbers be 5x, 7x, and 12x.

3. The sum of the first and third numbers is greater than the second by 50,

=> 5x + 12x = 7x + 50, (solve the equation for value of x),

=> 17x  = 7x + 50,

=> 17x - 7x = 50,

=> 10x = 50,

=> x = 50/10,

=> x = 5.

4. The three numbers are 5x5, 7x5, 12x5,

=> The three numbers are 25, 35, 60.

=> The sum of the three numbers are 25 + 35 + 60,

=> The sum of the three numbers is 120.

Therefore, the sum of the three numbers are 120.
