For painting 27 walls in 9 minutes totally 9 painters are needed.

Solution:

Let X Painters are needed to paint 27 walls in 9 minutes.

Then rate of X painter = \frac{27 \text { walls }}{9 \text { minutes }}

= \frac{3 \text { walls }}{\text { minute }}

Then, the rate of X painter = 3 walls per minute ⟶ (1)

In the given question,

3 painters can paint 3 walls in 3 minutes.

Thus rate of 3 painter = \frac{3 \text { walls }}{3 \text { minutes }}

= \frac{1 \text { wall }}{\text { minute }}

Rate of 3 painter = 1 wall per minute ⟶ (2)

By comparing equations 1 and 2 in ratio,

\frac{X}{3}=\frac{3}{1}

X = 9

Hence, the needed painters are 9.
