Given:

Three particles move in a straight line with initial velocities v1, v2 and v3 (v1 retardation ‘a’ such that the motion continues for more than one second before velocity of each particle becomes zero.

To find:

If s1,s2and s3 respectively be the distances travelled in the last one second before velocity becomes zero, then

Solution:

From given, we have,

Three particles move in a straight line with initial velocities v1, v2 and v3 (v1 retardation ‘a’ such that the motion continues for more than one second before the velocity of each particle becomes zero.

The formula for calculating the distance travelled in nth second is given by,

S{n} = U + a {n - 1/2}

thus it is clear that,

S{n} is directly proportional to U

so for s1 < s2 < s3, we get,

v1 < v2 < v3

If s1,s2and s3 respectively be the distances travelled in the last one second before velocity becomes zero, then v1 < v2 < v3.
