pipe A’s 1 minute work = 1/8
pipe B’s 1 minute work = 1/12
pipe C’s 1 minute work = 1/16

A+B+C’s 1 minute work = 1/8+1/12+1/16
= 13/48

Thus, time they take to finish it when they are opened together
= reciprocal
= 48/13
= 3 whole, 9/13 minutes is taken by them to fill up the cistern completely

Hope it helps ..
