Series connection means that the resistances are added. Therefore, Equivalent Resistance= (10+15+20)Ω=45Ω

Given that the potential drop across the resistances is 3V, then by Ohm's Law:

V=IR

3V=I×45Ω

I=(1/15)A

In a series connection, the current flowing through all the resistances is the same. So, (1/15)A of current also flows through 10Ω resistance. By Ohm's Law:

V=I×R

V=(1/15)(10)

=(2/3)V
