Given :

  • Three resistor of 2 ohm 3 ohm and 6 ohm are connected in parallel connection.

To find :

  • Total resistance or Equivalent resistance

Formula used :

 \dfrac{1}{Req}  =  \dfrac{1}{R1}  +  \dfrac{1}{R2}  +  \dfrac{1}{R3} ......

the above Formula is only for parallel connection.

where :-

  • Req = equivalent resistance

  • R1 , R2 and R3 = resistance of resistors connected in parallel connection

Solution :

In parallel connection we know that :-

\dfrac{1}{Req}  =  \dfrac{1}{R1}  +  \dfrac{1}{R2}  +  \dfrac{1}{R3}

Now put :-

  • R1 = 2
  • R1 = 3
  • R3 = 6

\implies\dfrac{1}{Req}  =  \dfrac{1}{2}  +  \dfrac{1}{3}  +  \dfrac{1}{6}

LCM of 2 , 3 and 6 = 6

Now :-

\implies\dfrac{1}{Req}  =  \dfrac{3+2+1}{6}

\implies\dfrac{1}{Req}  =  \dfrac{6}{6}

Now we will out 6 from numerator and denominator :-

\implies\dfrac{1}{Req}  = 1

Answer :

Req = 1 ohm

If resistors are connected in series connection then we can use the following formula to get Equivalent resistance :-

Req = R1+ R2 + R3..........
