Basics -

=> Inertia is the tendency of a body to maintain its state of rest or motion.

=> Inertia depends on mass of the body, the more the mass the more is its inertia.

=> For example it is more difficult to stop a moving ball made of a heavy material like lead than it is to stop a ball made of plastic, because of higher inertia of motion of the ball made of lead.

=> Density = Mass upon volume

Given -

=> Solids made of Magnesium, Granite and Aluminium have same shape and volume, and densities of 1.7 g/cm3, 2.5 g/cm3 and 2.7 g/cm3 respectively.

To find -

=> The solid having highest inertia.

Solving -

=> Since all three have same volume let the volume of each of them be x.

=> By using \boxed{Density=\frac{Mass}{Volume} } we can find out the masses of each in terms of x and compare them to find the body with highest inertia.

=> For Magnesium, 1.7 = Mass/x , hence Mass of Mg = 1.7x grams.

=> For Granite, 2.5 = Mass/x, hence Mass of Granite =  2.5x grams.

=> For Aluminium, 2.7 = Mass/x, hence Mass of Aluminium = 2.7x grams .

=> Here, it is understood that Aluminium has highest mass of 2.7 x grams and Magnesium is lightest having mass of 1.7x grams.

=>Hence, Aluminium has highest inertia .
