The oral contraceptive, this is usually an oestrogen and progesterone combined tablet taken once a day. It prevents the release of an egg and the thickening if the uterus. It can be harmful to health in some cases, especially if taken over a considerable length of time.

Female condom - femidom, this is a device similar to a male condom, it inserted into the vagina before intercourse and acts as a barrier, collecting sperm safely. This is a safe method.

Coil, this is a T shaped piece of copper or plastic which is inserted inside the uterus, it may have hormones present to further help contraception. It works by preventing an egg from implanting into the endometrium. There may be some health risks involved if a hormone coil is used.
