Three thermochemical equations are given below:
(i) C(graphite) + O_2(g) \rightarrow CO_2(g); \Delta_rH^0 = x kJ mol⁻¹
(ii) C(graphite) +\frac{1}{2} O_2(g)\rightarrow CO(g); \Delta_rH^0 = y kJ mol⁻¹
(iii) CO(g) + \frac{1}{2} O_2(g) \rightarrow CO_2(g); \Delta_rH^0 = z kJ mol⁻¹
Based on the above equations, find out which of the relationship given below is correct?
(a) x = y – z
(b) z = x + y
(c) x = y + z
(d) y = 2z – x

answer should be C

just add the stoichiometric coefficients of y and z and you will get x as answer
