Given : Three vertices of a rectangle ABCD are A(3,1), B(-3,1) and C(-3, 3).

To Find : Plot these points on a graph paper

the coordinates of the fourth vertex D.

the area of rectangle ABCD.

Solution:

A(3,1)

go 3 unit right to origin and then one unit above

B ( -3 , 1)

go 3 unit left to origin and then one unit above

C(-3, 3).

go 3 unit left to origin and then 3 unit above

Point D will be ( 3 , 3)

Area of rectangle = 2 x 6  = 12 sq units
