Three vertices of a rectangle are(3,2).(-4, 2) and (-4,5). Plot these points and find the
coordinates of 4th vertex. Also find its area​

  • Finding the coordinates of the fourth vertex of rectangle using graph paper:

  • As the first step, plot the given three vertices of rectangle on graph sheet as A, B, C. We have to find the fourth vertex D.

  • From graph, AB = 7 cm and BC = 3 cm.

  • We know that, opposite sides of a rectangle are parallel and equal.

Therefore, AB = DC = 7 cm and BC = AD = 3 cm.

  • To find D, plot a point which is 3 cm above A and 7 cm to the left of C.

  • The point so obtained is (3, 5) which is the fourth vertex D of rectangle.
