the transition metal ions which have completely filled D orbitals are colourless. as there was no vacant D orbitals To permit promotion of electrons. there Ti+ 4 ion is colourless.

If any ion of transition metal contains empty or completely filled d-orbital then the compound will be colorless. In Ti⁴⁺ electronic configuration of Ti is Ar [3d⁰4s⁰].(atomic number of Ti = 22, Ti⁴⁺ion contains 22-4=18 electrons).

In Ti⁴⁺ there is no electrons in d-orbital i.e. d-orbital is empty, therefore, Ti⁴⁺ ion is colorless.
