In a patient suffering from Diabetes, glucose is a remedy of last resort!
It should be administered after confirmation that blood sugar levels are VERY low (Hypoglyceamia) and should only be given as a one off dose. Then the patient should be encouraged to eat some healthy food to bring the blood sugars back under control.
Glucose will quickly disappear from the body again unless other remedial action is taken to combat the problem that caused the hypoglyceamia.
