so,

let time  = t

amount = 55

principal = 50

so simple interest = a - p

                             = 55 - 50

                              = 5 rs

rate of interst = 4%

now lets recall a formula

time = 100 × s.i / p × r

       = 100 × 5 / 50 × 4

        = 5/2 year

      =  5 yeras 6 months
