Now, I am going to propose a thought experiment .

consider time to be having a positive direction in the X-axis . It is then evident that time can not change in Y, Z or any linear combination of the three axes except the case [1,0,0].

Now, imagine a global coordinate system placed at a reference point in space . Where ever one is standing he is experiencing the same motion of time . or in other words , time is seen to be invariant with space (taking in perspective earth time.

so, time being invariant with space qualifies it to be a SCALAR QUANTITY , which always belongs to the positive group of real number .
