Here are a few tips on how to deliver a speech effectively and how to be an attention holder-
+ Practice by standing in front of a mirror.Bring out the expressions and voice modulation by looking at yourself in the mirror and this also helps in overcoming stage fear.
+ NEVER by-heart the whole speech just be well prepared and well versed with the speech contents as people tend to forget easily if they by heart.
+ Know the meaning of what you are saying first and then give the speech this helps in presenting the speech in a better way.
+ If you feel that you have stage fear then ask a good friend of yours to be in a place where you can see him/her so that you can look at him/her whenever you feel scared.
+ Don't rush off, pause and give enough space in between the words to effectively give the speech without stammering or repeating.
+ Keep your introduction short, sweet and brief.
