Some metals are immersed in kerosene to prevent accidental fires,because they react vigorously with oxygen or air . Like sodium (Na) .It react vigorously with oxygen and may cause accidents so it should be kept in kerosene .

some of the metals are kept immersed in kerosene oil because they are highly reactive metals and when they come contact with atmosphere they react and catch fire
