The image can be diminished in case of the following two situations:
1. When the object is present at infinity- in this case, the image is formed at the focus( focal point) and is real, inverted and diminished in nature.
2. When the object is present beyond the centre of the mirror- in this case, the image is formed between the centre and focus and is also real, inverted and diminished in nature.
