There are 2 simple steps for the conversion of bromo benzene to benzoic acid. The very first step is to have toluene as a product from chlorobenzene and from toluene you can produce the benzoic acid. You can produce toluene by adding methyl chloride in presence of sodium metal with chlorobenzene. And after formation of toluene you can oxidise it in presence of Alkaline potassium permanganate this potassium permanganate can be converted to potassium benzoate that is benzoic acid with the further hydrolysis.
