Answer:

The titration of potassium permanganate (KMnO4) against oxalic acid (C2H2O4) is an example of redox titration. In close proximity to the endpoint, the action of the indicator is analogous to the other types of visual colour titrations in oxidation-reduct

Answer:

In this titration, the following reactions take place: 2MnO4 + 5H2C2O4 + 6H+ 2Mn2+ + 10CO2 + 8H2O

Thus, this establishes the stoichiometry of the reaction, and 5 oxalic acids (H2C2O4) are burned for every 2 equivalents of permanganate (MnO4). Also take note that manganese (Mn2+) solutions are relatively pale pink in colour, compared to the strongly purple hue of permanganate solutions.

Determining the concentration of your permanganate solution is therefore necessary (lets say it is 0.001 M). To remove the purple tint, titrate the oxalic acid solution with this solution (a little tricky since manganese solutions are lightly pink). Be sure to multiply the concentration by this volume. Consider that 25 mL (or 0.025 L) of your 0.001 M solution was used for the titration.
