Explanation:

Aim : to find the focal length of concave mirror

materials required: v-stand,concave mirror of unknown focal length, candle, meter scale, paper screen

procedure:

place a vstand on a level surface and mount the concave mirror on it

using a meter scale mark the distance on one side of the vstand

place a lighted candle in front of the concave mirror of a distantance(u)object distance

place the paper screen near the candle move it towards the mirror till we get a clear image .This is image distance .

observations:

we observe that the image will be diminished and closer to the mirror when the object is placed far from it.

as the object moves close towardd the mirror we get same size enlarged image which may be real or virtual .

conclusion:

we conclude that the focal length of the mirror can be found by using the values of 'v' and 'u'
