Zener diode is a semiconductor diode in which n-type and p-type are heavily doped, which means they consist more impurity atoms. The heavy doped results into low value of reverse breakdown voltage (BVr).
The reverse breakdown voltage of a Zener diode, is called Zener voltage (Vz). The reverse current that results after the breakdown, is called Zener current (Iz).
