The following method works with all objects, whether that is hollow or solid. Firstly, fill a big measuring cylinder with graduations (big enough to submerge the object completely) with water. Note the current water level. Then take the object and immerse that in the bowl till it is completely submerged. Note the new level. Calculate the difference between the two levels to get the volume of the object.
