Aim: To measure the impedance and resistance of a inductor with or without iron core.
Apparatus required:
A battery, High resistance rheostat , D.C and A.C ammeter and voltmeter , one way key, A.C source ,inductor coil , iron core and connecting wires.
Procedure :
Measurement of Resistance :
resistance is measured after connecting the circuit by applying Ohm's law.
Measurement Of impedance without Iron core:
--> Make the circuit as shown in the figure.
---> The Source used is A.C mains with Ac voltmeter and ammeter
.---> Ratio of Voltmeter reading to the corresponding ammeter reading will give the impedance of inductor without Iron core.Measurement Of impedance with soft Iron core:
Now insert the soft iron core inside the hollow cylindrical asbestors core of conductor
Again by using Ohm's Impedence is calculated.
Observation:
Least count of D.C ammeter =---------A
Least of A.C ammeter =--------A
Least count of D.C voltmeter =-------------V
Least count of A.C voltmeter =_--------------V
Zero correction of Ammeter [D.c]=-------A
Zero correction of Ammeter [A.C]=-----A
Zero correction of Voltmeter {A.C]=-------V
Zero correction of D.C voltmeter=----V
Measurement of resistance :
************************************************************************************ Without Iron Core
Battery Eliminator D.C Voltmeter D.C ammeter R=V/I
***********************************************************************************
1.2v
2.4v
3.6v
4.8v
***************************************************************************
Mean value of R is taken =----------- ohm.
Measurement of resistance :
************************************************************************************ With Iron Core
Battery Eliminator D.C Voltmeter D.C ammeter R1=V1/I 1
***********************************************************************************
1.2v
2.4v
3.6v
4.8v
***************************************************************************
Mean value of R1 is taken =----------- ohm.
Measurement Of Impedance of coil
*********************************************************************************
*Stepdown Without Iron core
Transformer A.C Voltmeter A.C ammeter Z= Vac/IacReading (Vac) (Iac)************************************************************************************
1. 2v

***********************************************************************************
*1. 2v
2.4v
3. 6v
4. 8V

Result :
The reistance of Inductor Coil without core ==------ohms
The resistance of Inductor coil with soft iron ==-ohms
The Impedance of inductor coil without core =-----ohms
The Impedance of inductor coil with soft iron core =-----ohms
