The amount of environmental air is inversely proportional with the increasing altitude.
That's why the amount of atmospheric oxygen is less in the higher altitudes.
In this such cases our body do the following things to collect the necessary oxygen:
1) Breathing at a high pace.
2) Breathing with both nose and mouth cavities.
3) Decreasing the oxygen consumption in the body.
4) Decreasing the heart rate in order to decrease the oxygen necessity.
