The distance between one crest to another crest or one trough to another trough is called wavelength of a wave. It is equivalent to distance covered. The time taken to complete one oscillation is called time period of a wave. So, the velocity of a wave is given by :

v=\dfrac{\lambda}{t}

Since, f=\dfrac{1}{t}, t is the time period

So, v=f\times \lambda

Hence, proved.
