Let n be the time it takes the first pipe to fill the tank. Then the second pipe would be n+10. So:
1/n + 1/n+10=1/12
12(n+10)+12n=n²+10n
24n+120=n²+10n
n²-14n-120=0
(n-20)(n+6)=0
n=20
n+10=30 hours for the 2nd pipe to fill the tank alone
1/n + 1/n+10=1/12
12(n+10)+12n=n²+10n
24n+120=n²+10n
n²-14n-120=0
(n-20)(n+6)=0
n=20
n+10=30 hours for the 2nd pipe to fill the tank alone
