 {a}^{2}  -  {b}^{2}  = (a + b)(a - b) \\  \\ (a + b)(a - b) =  {a}^{2}  - ab + ab -  {b}^{2}  \\  =  {a}^{2} { \cancel{ - ab + ab}} -  {b}^{2}  \\  =  {a}^{2}  -  {b}^{2}
