Gender is a social construct, e.i. a socially constructed conception. Human beings fall under three different categories, male, female and transgender, based on their biological differences. Distinct physical features differentiate men from women. But apart from this biological factor, there also exists a socio-cultural factor, that exerts significant influences on the lives of people. Sex is the biological categorization of people, but gender incorporates norms and ideology. In India, gender denotes the higher status of men in society as well as in a family and the quintessential suppression of women.

Political mobilisation on gender bases will definitely improve the status of women in India. Gender inequality is raising concern all over the country, and women empowerment is one of the most effective ways to attain gender equality in India. Politics significantly influence Indian social life. So,Gender discrimination is reducing to some extent and hopefully reduced to higher extent as soon as society become educated.
