Marked Price(MP) =₹500

Selling Price(SP)=₹400

Dicount% =5%

Discount given =

= \frac{5}{100}  \times 500

=25%

IT IS GIVEN THAT DUE TO SOME REASON THE CUSTOMER GAVE ₹400.

So, the discount given = MP-SP=₹500-₹400=₹100

Discount%=

= \frac{discount}{marked \: price} \times 100

= \frac{100}{500}  \times 100

=20%

Discount% =20%
