do iron objects become stronger even after rusting?

Iron gets rust we it is exposed to oxygen and water (moisture)

there is a formation of oxide layer over the object .

iron may lose there properties of strength ,as we can say that no they may not be stronger when they are rusted.

as you may be knowing that in tv ads shown of iron rods for buildin ghouse they say that rusted iron will lose its strength .
