Answer:

The amount of water left is 6 liters.

Step-by-step explanation:

Amount of water father bought = 10 liters.

Fraction of water used for cooking = \frac{1}{5}

Amount of water used for cooking = \frac{1}{5} x 10

                                                          = 2 liters.

Amount of remaining water = 10 -2

                                              = 8 liters.

Amount of water used for drinking = \frac{1}{4} x Amount of remaining water

                                                          = \frac{1}{4} x 8

                                                          = 2 liters.

∴The total amount of water used = 2 +2

                                                       = 4 liters.

The amount of water left =  10 - 4

                                         = 6 liters.
