============================================================
                                     COMPUTER GENERATIONS
============================================================

♣ First Generation:

The first generation of computers  is comprised between the years 1946 and 1958. In these early years, computers were huge machines that used valves to operate and punched cards for data exchange, as well as, magnetic cylinders to store the information. They were slow and quite hot. Despite their low optimization for work, they were widely used in the military and scientific fields, due to their ability to perform highly complex calculations.

♣ Second Generation:

The second generation of computers starts in 1958 and ends in 1964. The radical change with respect to the first generation is the use of transistors, which drastically reduced the size of the equipment. The transistors managed to improve the efficiency of computers and facilitate their use. However, they were still slow and emanated a lot of heat. Magnetic cylinders were used for data storage and sophisticated programming languages such as COBOL and FORTRAN were developed, giving rise to structured programming.

♣ Third Generation :

The third generation of computers is located between 1964 and 1971 and its main characteristic is the use of integrated circuits that miniaturized the electronic parts, making computers much smaller and more efficient and increasing the capacity of data processing. The first mini-computer of this generation was the PDP-8.

♣ Fourth Generation:

In this generation that goes from the years 1971 to 1983, the integration with diverse electronic components was maximized and the microprocessor or microchip appears. In this way, the performance of the equipment is improved, the computers become much smaller and more efficient and the capacity to carry out tasks and programs is maximized. The internal structure of computers becomes much more complex and efficient.

♣ Fifth Generation:

It is said that goes from 1983 to the present and in this arises the PC or the current computer, fast, efficient and with an ultra modern software development. They tend to be much smaller and thinner each time, they are characterized by having great speed of data processing, by using a large amount of RAM and using storage in solid devices and memory cards.
Note: Today's computer are example of fifth generation.

Hope It Helps You! ☺☻☺

WHAT IS A COMPUTER?
computer is basically a device which can perform simple as well as complex calculations with its programming basics and can give valid results and outputs of integrated data and information which can be useful for us for creating various type of data bases and conserving data for various useful purposes

computer can perform 4 main functions they are input output processing and storage.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF COMPUTERS?
there are basically many types of computer in the present present world with different types of functions for each of them but they are some main types of computer which are described in this answer.

while studying the computer basics we usually, class four main types of computers which are:-

1) a supercomputer:-
a supercomputer is basically the most important of all computers which is the most powerful of all computers too. is used for carrying out almost the most important works of the world such as flying aeroplanes, managing certain really important types of work like launching missiles , rockets, and various types of nuclear tests , weather forecasting, space exploration , nuclear weapons testing too.

NASA uses these types of computers for its work and they are really very costly and I used by very large multinational organisations which carry out important works of the world.

2) Mainframe computer:-
mainframe computers are computers which we usually used by multinational company to carry out their daily work systems. they are not as powerful as supercomputers but usually there very costly and effective too.

basically designed to suit the needs of multinational companies and so that they can carry out their work easily effectively and of course with reliability.
is used to store the large amount of data and the used by banks or other such places .

3) mini computers:-
mini computers are used by a really small business firms and companies which have a small database which me which can be handled by many computers.

can be handled by single as well as multiple users. they can handle data which is not as large as mainframe computers but is usually suitable for normal use. can monitor certain production purposes.

4) micro computers:-
we all use micro computers in daily life such as our smartphones tablets PDF laptops personal computers and etc they are made for single user and I usually have sufficient amount of Storage for normal use and they are really cost effective and reliable.

today their applications are seen in every field and are getting day by day more advanced the field of Technology. free no money well known manufacturers of them such as Toshiba, Hitachi , Dell, Apple etc.
