Dear diary,
It is Independence day today. I was very excited at the starting of the day. I got up early and dressed up in the colours of orange, white and green. I left to school to watch the special programs of today. The school was decorated beautifully. Still, most of my classmates didn't look so excited. I didn't know what was wrong with them. The programme began with lots of joy. The skits were done beautifully. They explained about the importance of Independence. Once the programme ended, we left to our classes and we were distributed with delecious snacks. Everyone started talking. They told that it didn't make any difference that we got independence. I was shocked. I asked them why. They told that they can spoil the country. I felt very very upset. I understood that they are taking advantage of recieving freedom. They threw all the choclate wrappers and chips packets all over the school. They were solidifying the image of the country. I felt very offended towards their attitude. I left the school in no time. I am very mad at them. Hope I can make some sense to them tommorow by telling some good things of recieving independence. However, my friends of the township were respectful to the country atlaest. I was glad I had good friends at our township.
For now, good night. Happy independence day.
Hope it helps you;

Dear Diary, (optional)
Today I’m just pondering over the condition of India. We have completed 70 years of independence but where have we reached? Every year we commemorate the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters on this pious national festival, wave flags, sing patriotic songs and show off our patriotism by posting patriotic images on social media and the very next day we discard those flags in the drains. When I see heaps of garbage everywhere, children working as labourers, people dying because of lack of food or medical treatment, discrimination against women, I feel ashamed of myself. Is this what I want?
Actually, we are taking our freedom for granted. We have lots of expectations from our country but we forget about our duties. We need to develop a sense of responsibility. Patriotism should be displayed in our acts rather than in profile photos. Today I’ve decided to contribute to the development of my motherland. Even small actions count. I will teach the poor children in my neighbourhood. I am in charge of the cleanliness and I am the monitor in the class. I know, I’ll be teased for it too. But I won’t get annoyed. Someday, others will also follow me. If every person takes it as a challenge, no one can stop India from being a superpower.
