Divide the marbles with 3

because tom : luke is 2 : 1

And 2+1=3

39/3=13

So tom's marbles = 2 x 13 = 26

And luke's marbles= 1x 13= 13

Answer:

\underline{\huge{\texttt{26 Marbles}}}

Step-by-step explanation:

Luke has x marbles.

Tom has twice as many so he has 2x marbles.

Together they have 39:

x + 2x = 39

Simplify:

3x = 39

Divide both sides by 3:

x =\frac{39}{3}=\bold{ 13}

Tom has 2(13) = 26 marbles.
