Given to find the locus of the variable point

(at², 2at) where t is the parameter

Solution:-

Let the given point (at² , 2at ) = (x , y )

x = at² --------- eq 1

y = 2at --------- eq 2

Here t is the parameter that means we have to eliminate t and we have to find locus

So,

We shall do Squaring on both sides for point y

(y)² = (2at)²

y² = 4a²t²

Take common 4a

y² = 4a(at²)

From equation 1 We can write at² as x

y² = 4ax

So, the equation of locus is y² = 4ax
