The Potential Energy of the object at a height of 1m above the ground is given in a similar fashion. By definition, the change in Potential Energy is equivalent to the change in Kinetic Energy. The initial KE of the object is 0, because it is at rest. Hence the final Kinetic Energy is equal to the change in KE.
