There are three number of stereoisomers for 2 3 dichlorobutane.

  • The structure for dichlorobutane is CH3CLCHCLCH3.
  • Where the number of l and d isomers is = 2`n−1  = 2`2-1 = 2  
  • Where the number of the forms of meso is =2`n/2−1  =2`2/2−1 = 1
  • Therefore, the total number of stereoisomers will be 2+1 = 3.
