Given

We have given total surface area of cuboid which is 200cm²

and it's lateral surface area is 140cm²

To Find

We have to find the area of its base

Know the term:

The word lateral surface area means curved surface area.

Total surface area of cuboid = 2(lb+bh+lh)

where l is the length ; b is the breadth & h is the height respectively.

Curved/lateral surface area of cuboid=2(bh+lh)

Since, we have to find the area of its base

Area of its base = Total surface area -lateral surface area

Area of its base = 200-140=60

=>Area of its base= 2(lb+bh+lh)-2(bh+lh)

=>60= 2lb+2bh+2lh-2bh-2lh

=>60= 2lb+2bh-2bh+2lh-2lh

=>60= 2lb

=>60÷2=lb

=>lb= 30

Hence,the area of its base is 30cm²
