India's close links with its neighbours are :

India has always been influenced by the Greeks as well as Central and West Asian countries. India's location at the head of the Indian Ocean has facilitated access to the maritime routes.

Strategically located, the mountain ranges in the north have provided ingress to ancient travellers.

The Silk Route, which linked China with Rome as far back 600 BC was one such conduit for early traders. Similarly, Suez Canal reduced the distance between India and Europe.

Today, India is linked to the rest of the world as a host of air and maritime routes. Globalization, jet  travel, and modern means of communication have shortened time and distance to forge close links
with other countries.
