English novels are an important part of English literature, the unique feature about the 19th-century novels was it directly addressed the reader. There were three different writing movements at that time one was the Romantic Period, The American Renaissance and The Realist Movement which is also known as Realism.
In the Realism period, there was a depiction of contemporary life and society as it was at that time. The realism in novels has been practiced since 1850's in the 19th century it was mixed with Romanticism which is why it was not purely based on realism, in that period the modernism started to take place, at first the modernism faced a lot of criticism but later it was accepted by people.
