Trade played an important role in colonization . Trading items include silk, porcelain, tea ,etc . from China ; cotton textile ,steel and spices from india; tin , petroleum, rubber , spices ,etc., from indonesia and natural resources from Africa. The European had established trading centre in these countries. They demanded monopolies trade relations for the benefit of the colonial power. The European power had bought these exotic goods and sold them in Europe and made high profits. The first Dutch expenditure, for example , fetched about 400% profit on its investment.
